Accounting Director Position Overview If you're an experienced accountant who enjoys more than simply working with numbers, this is an opportunity to take ownership of the financial side of meaningful restoration and reconstruction projects. As a Staff Accountant , you'll have the opportunity to become a key financial partner to Project Managers, Estimators, Operations, vendors, subcontractors, customers, and insurance professionals. You'll see projects move from initial setup through completion and understand how the financial decisions made along the way impact profitability and overall business performance. This role is ideal for someone who wants to use their accounting expertise in a fast-moving environment where their work is visible, valued, and directly connected to the success of individual projects. Key Responsibilities Construction & Job Cost Accounting
  • Set up and maintain accurate job costing structures for restoration and reconstruction projects.
  • Review job budgets, committed costs, actual costs, labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project expenses.
  • Monitor project profitability and identify cost overruns, margin issues, and unusual variances.
  • Review job costs regularly and communicate discrepancies to Project Managers and Operations.
  • Assist with project forecasting and cost-to-complete analysis.
  • Ensure costs are coded to the correct project, phase, cost code, and account.
  • Maintain accurate project records from job initiation through final closeout.
  • Review and reconcile job-cost reports to the general ledger. Restoration & Insurance Accounting
  • Process and track restoration project billing for insurance, third-party administrators, commercial clients, and self-pay customers.
  • Review invoices and supporting documentation to ensure billing is complete and accurate.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Estimators regarding approved scopes, supplements, change orders, and additional work.
  • Track insurance receivables and outstanding balances.
  • Assist with documentation required by insurance carriers, TPAs, lenders, customers, and other third parties.
  • Maintain organized job files containing estimates, invoices, purchase orders, subcontractor documentation, change orders, approvals, and payment records.
  • Follow up on outstanding insurance and customer payments and assist with collections when necessary. Accounts Payable & Subcontractor Management
  • Verify invoices against purchase orders, contracts, job budgets, and completed work.
  • Maintain current W-9s, insurance certificates, licenses, and other subcontractor compliance documentation.
  • Track subcontractor commitments and payments by project.
  • Review subcontractor documentation, lien waivers, releases, and other required payment paperwork.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to resolve billing and invoice discrepancies. Accounts Receivable & Billing
  • Prepare and process customer, insurance, and commercial project invoices.
  • Monitor A/R aging and proactively follow up on past-due balances.
  • Research payment discrepancies and short pays.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and management regarding collection issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of deposits, payments, credits, and adjustments.
  • Assist with final billing and project closeout. General Accounting
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare account and project reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger activity related to construction operations.
  • Assist the Controller/Accounting Manager with audits, CPA requests, and financial analysis.
  • Maintain accounting records in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles. Project Closeout
  • Review projects for outstanding costs, invoices, commitments, and receivables.
  • Ensure final customer and insurance billing has been completed.
  • Verify subcontractor/vendor documentation is complete.
  • Track final lien waivers/releases and closeout documentation.
  • Reconcile project financials and identify remaining open items.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers to formally close completed jobs. Systems & Technology The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with accounting and construction management technology, including combination of:

Pay:
$65,000.00
  • $85,000.
