We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to support manufacturing finance activities for a long-term contract opportunity in Groton, Connecticut. This position focuses on cost control, inventory valuation, and variance management within a production environment, while partnering with operations to improve financial visibility. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in standard costing, reporting, and month-end close support to help maintain accurate and timely financial data.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory activities to ensure accurate stock records and valuation.
• Analyze manufacturing cost variances and provide clear explanations for differences related to production performance.
• Establish and update annual standard costs, including the setup of costing for new materials and components.
• Manage labor, overhead, and absorption-related variance tracking to support effective cost control.
• Prepare manufacturing-related journal entries and contribute to monthly financial close activities.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting by supplying cost data, operational insights, and financial analysis.
• Develop and maintain recurring cost and operations reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Monitor production spending and highlight trends, risks, and opportunities affecting plant cost performance.
