We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Middletown, Delaware on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This role supports core accounting operations and financial close activities while partnering with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate reporting and strong financial controls. The position is well suited for someone who brings hands-on accounting experience, strong Excel capability, and a solid background working with enterprise financial systems in a production-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily payables and receivables activity, ensuring invoices, cash applications, vendor disbursements, and collection efforts are processed accurately and on schedule.
Create and distribute customer billing while verifying supporting details to maintain timely and precise invoicing.
Record financial activity through journal entries, accruals, and account analysis to support accurate general ledger reporting.
Contribute to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close by preparing reconciliations, reviewing balances, and resolving outstanding items.
Extract accounting and transactional information into Excel, organize and validate data, and prepare reporting files for use in Cognos when needed.
Reconcile subledger activity to the general ledger and investigate inconsistencies to ensure reliable financial records.
Assist with reporting packages and variance review while helping preserve consistency and accuracy across accounting systems.
Maintain documentation that supports audit readiness, internal controls, and compliance with established accounting procedures.
Partner with operations, supply chain, and finance stakeholders to account for inventory, production, and other manufacturing-related transactions.
Recommend practical improvements that increase efficiency in reporting and streamline routine accounting workflows.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant, senior accountant, or comparable role.
Working knowledge of month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
