Elgin Industries is looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys accurate accounting work, recurring monthly close responsibilities, and the opportunity to support a manufacturing and distribution business with meaningful financial information. The Staff Accountant will support the monthly financial close process, account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and general accounting activities. This position works closely with Finance and Operations to maintain accurate financial records, support internal controls, and provide timely information for management review and operational decision-making. What You'll Do Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with the close calendar. Maintain and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of reconciling items. Prepare supporting schedules for income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank accounts, and related general ledger activity as assigned. Prepare monthly financial reporting support, including account activity review, variance explanations, and documentation for management review. Maintain standard cost support, monitor inventory valuations, and review manufacturing variances, including labor, material, and overhead. Participate in physical inventory, reconcile inventory discrepancies, and support cycle count programs. Support Finance and Operations with accurate information needed for budgeting, forecasting, and operational review. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required. Two to three years of general accounting experience, including month-end close support, journal entries, and account reconciliations required. Manufacturing, distribution, or cost accounting experience strongly preferred. Strong data manipulation skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency. Experience with ERP or integrated accounting systems preferred. Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial operations staff. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to meet recurring monthly close deadlines with accuracy and consistency. Why Join Elgin Industries?
