full-time Position Summary The Accountant plays a critical role within the finance team and is responsible for supporting the month-end close, journal entries, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities. The position will also support Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting and revenue recognition related to customer projects and contracts. This role requires strong attention to detail, solid accounting fundamentals, analytical ability, and the ability to work collaboratively with accounting, finance, operations, and other internal stakeholders. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Month-End Close & Journal Entries Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly close process. Ensure journal entries are accurate, complete, properly supported, and recorded in accordance with GAAP. Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting activities. Percentage-of-Completion (POC) & Revenue Accounting Assist with Percentage-of-Completion (POC) accounting and revenue recognition for applicable customer projects and contracts. Review project activity, costs incurred, billing information, and other supporting documentation used in determining revenue recognition. Assist with monitoring project progress and identifying changes or discrepancies that could impact revenue, costs, or profitability. Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and reconciliations related to POC revenue and project accounting . Partner with operational and finance teams to obtain accurate and timely project information. Bank Activity Reconciliation Reconcile bank activity to the general ledger. Investigate and resolve variances to maintain accurate financial records. Sales & Use Tax Reconciliation Reconcile sales and use tax transactions. Prepare and submit tax reports in compliance with applicable regulations. Fixed Assets Reconcile fixed asset activity and ensure appropriate capitalization and depreciation. Record transactions and maintain accurate fixed asset records. Balance Sheet Reconciliations Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts. Research and resolve discrepancies to ensure the integrity of financial reporting. Intercompany Accounting Record intercompany transactions accurately and timely. Process monthly intercompany payments and reconcile intercompany balances. Financial & Operational Support Deliver accurate and timely financial information to internal and external stakeholders. Work cross-functionally to research accounting discrepancies and resolve issues. Support the Accounting Manager and broader finance organization with general accounting projects and process improvements. Systems Experience working with large ERP environments is preferred, particularly: Oracle PeopleSoft JD Edwards (JDE) Strong Excel skills and the ability to learn and work across multiple accounting and financial systems are also important. Competencies Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Solid understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles . Understanding of Percentage-of-Completion accounting and project-based revenue is highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret financial and operational data. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across accounting, finance, and operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently while also being a proactive team player. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field from an accredited university, or equivalent practical experience. 2-4+ years of accounting or general ledger experience. Experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger accounting . Exposure to Percentage-of-Completion (POC), project accounting, or revenue recognition is highly preferred. Experience with Oracle, PeopleSoft, and/or JD Edwards (JDE) preferred. Experience within a large, multi-location, distribution, manufacturing, construction, or project-based environment is a plus. Ability to successfully pass a background check following offer acceptance.
