Job Description

We are looking for an Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Garden City, New York on a Contract basis. This position will support core accounting operations, with a strong focus on payroll processing, cash reconciliation, and accurate financial recordkeeping. The ideal candidate brings solid Excel skills and hands-on experience managing general ledger activity in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Process biweekly payroll for approximately 100 employees with accuracy and timeliness
Reconcile bank accounts and investigate variances to ensure complete and accurate cash reporting
Prepare and post journal entries to maintain up-to-date and reliable financial records
Support general ledger activities, including account analysis and routine month-end tasks
Use Excel to organize financial data, perform calculations, and generate reports for accounting needs
Review payroll and accounting information for discrepancies and resolve issues in a timely manner
