At Timberline Construction Corporation, our Project Accountants play an important role in helping our construction teams understand the financial story behind their projects. You'll work directly with Project Managers, Operations, and Finance to keep projects financially healthy, identify potential issues early, and help ensure we finish strong. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys construction, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to be a true business partner rather than simply process transactions. What You'll Do You'll have a hand in the financial life of our projects from beginning to end.
Your days may include:
Setting up new projects and ensuring budgets and contracts are accurately reflected in our systems. Managing monthly owner billing, including AIA billings, schedules of values, retainage, and change orders. Keeping a close eye on project costs and helping Project Managers understand where projects stand financially. Reviewing labor, materials, subcontractor, and equipment costs and identifying trends or potential concerns. Supporting forecasting, job cost reporting, project margin analysis, and month-end close. Working with subcontractors and vendors to ensure invoices, payments, lien waivers, insurance, and other documentation are in order. Following up on outstanding receivables and helping keep project cash flow moving. Supporting projects through closeout and making sure the financial details are accurate and complete. Looking for ways to make our accounting processes more efficient and effective. What Makes You a Great Fit You don't need to know everything on day one, but you should bring a strong accounting foundation, curiosity, and a willingness to get into the details. We're looking for someone with: 3-5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in construction or another project-based industry. Experience with job costing, project accounting, and construction billing. Familiarity with AIA billing, retainage, WIP reporting, or construction contracts is a plus. Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Experience with construction accounting or project management systems such as Sage 300 CRE, Sage Intacct, CMiC, or Procore is preferred. A solid understanding of GAAP and accounting principles. Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot when the numbers don't tell the story you expected. More Than Just Accounting The best Project Accountants at Timberline are problem-solvers and partners. You'll work closely with people across the company, build relationships with project teams, and help turn financial information into better decisions. You should be comfortable managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, asking questions, and speaking up when something doesn't look right. Most importantly, you should enjoy being part of a team and take pride in getting the details right. Why Timberline? At Timberline, you won't be sitting on the sidelines waiting for someone to hand you a report. You'll be part of the project team and have a direct impact on how we manage the financial performance of our work. If you're looking for a role where your accounting expertise can make a difference beyond the balance sheet, we'd like to hear from you.
