Job Overview Broco Energy is a family-owned fuel distribution and energy services company in Haverhill, MA, serving residential, commercial, and government customers. We are a high-energy, fast-moving team with both high-volume business now, and significant growth ahead, and we're building a modern finance function to support it. We're looking for a hands-on Staff Accountant to own our accounts payable process from end to end, manage vendor relationships, and maintain our fixed asset records. You'll also support cost accounting, FP&A, reconciliations, and month-end close. This role reports to the Controller and works alongside our Billing & AR Supervisor. It's a good fit for an accountant who wants to own a process, improve it, and document it. Responsibilities Own full-cycle
AP:
invoice intake, coding, approvals, PO and receiving matching, and payment runs Reconcile fuel supplier invoices to bills of lading, receipts, and contracted pricing, and resolve discrepancies Process subcontractor billing, maintain the AP aging, and manage disbursement timing Manage the vendor master file: onboarding, W-9s, certificates of insurance, payment terms, and change control Reconcile vendor statements monthly and resolve disputes, credits, and duplicate billing Prepare and file annual 1099s Maintain the fixed asset register for vehicles, tanks, equipment, and facilities, including additions, disposals, and depreciation Track product cost and margin, including cost per gallon, landed cost, and freight, and support inventory valuation Update budget, forecast, and reporting models, and prepare recurring variance, spend, and margin reports Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries, and support month-end close, year-end close, and audit Write and maintain AP procedures, and strengthen approval controls Requirements Bachelor's degree in business, with accounting or finance preferred. An associate's degree with equivalent practical experience will also be considered. 3+ years of AP or staff accounting experience, including ownership of a full-cycle AP process Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, an ERP, or an integrated accounting system Strong reconciliation skills and working knowledge of GAAP, accruals, and month-end close
Intermediate Excel:
lookups, pivot tables, and data cleanup Organized, accurate, and comfortable in a fast-paced, sometimes chaotic environment Preferred Cost accounting experience in distribution, energy, manufacturing, or field services Fixed asset and depreciation experience Experience with fuel delivery or dispatch software (e.g., Ignite) Experience writing SOPs and improving processes and controls Equal Opportunity Employer Broco Energy is an equal opportunity employer. Pay:
$30.00 - $33.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 50.0 per week
