Job Description
Cost Accountant/Analyst Responsibilities Analyze and cost manufacturing work orders using established costing methods. Plan, research, and analyze data to determine costs related to raw materials, inventory, labor, and manufacturing activities using Excel. Prepare monthly cost-of-sales figures by analyzing material, labor, and R&D expenses. Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs. Assist with monthly journal entries related to cost of sales and scrap. Maintain FIFO inventory records and follow established inventory valuation methods. Assist with internal and external audits. Analyze cost variances and respond to routine and ad hoc financial and operational requests. Support other accounting, costing, and financial analysis activities as assigned. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or 5-10 years of relevant manufacturing accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with manufacturing cost accounting and inventory costing. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with ERP and computerized accounting/costing systems; SAP experience preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Solid understanding of accounting principles, manufacturing costs, inventory, and variance analysis.
