Accountant Lignum Group Capitol Heights, MD Job Details Full-time $75,000 - $90,000 a year 2 hours ago Qualifications CPA Manufacturing facility experience Attention to detail Associate's degree Accounting Full Job Description About the Role We are seeking an Accountant to support financial operations and drive visibility across project costs, profitability, and cash flow. This is a hands-on accounting role within a project-based manufacturing environment, where accurate financial reporting and effective job costing are essential to keeping projects on schedule and protecting margins. Working closely with finance, operations, project management, estimating, purchasing, and production, you will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, identifying cost variances, and improving accounting processes as the business continues to grow. What You'll Do Financial Accounting & Reporting Manage the monthly financial close process, targeting completion within 10 business days. Prepare accurate financial reports, including P&L, cash flow, aging, and job profitability. Complete monthly bank, inventory, and work-in-progress (WIP) reconciliations. Maintain audit-ready financial records and supporting documentation. Support tax, insurance, bonding, and compliance reporting requirements. Job Costing & Project Profitability Maintain project-level job costing across active manufacturing and millwork projects. Monitor actual costs against estimates and identify material, labor, and overhead variances. Provide regular visibility into project performance and profitability. Work with Project Managers and Estimating to identify cost risks and protect project margins. Investigate discrepancies, duplicate charges, and unexplained cost variances. Accounts Payable, Receivable & Cash Flow Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. Coordinate vendor payments and support payroll activities. Monitor cash flow, outstanding receivables, and payment schedules. Maintain accurate vendor records and support predictable cash management. Systems & Process Improvement Work with ERP and accounting systems, including Innergy, to maintain accurate financial and project data. Use Excel to support reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis. Improve workflows across purchasing, production, and project accounting. Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes, improve accuracy, and strengthen financial controls. What You'll Bring Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Proven accounting experience within manufacturing, construction, millwork, or another project-based, made-to-order environment. Hands-on experience with month-end close, job costing, AP/AR, and financial reconciliations. Understanding of inventory accounting, work-in-progress (WIP), and project cost tracking. Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and strong Excel skills. Ability to analyze financial variances and communicate findings to non-finance stakeholders. Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple active projects. A proactive mindset, with a focus on accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement. CPA qualification or progress toward CPA is advantageous but not required.

$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
