Senior Accountant

The Position Synopsis:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing and supporting key accounting, financial reporting, cost accounting, inventory, internal control, and financial analysis activities within the company. This role plays an important part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, supporting a timely month-end close, and maintaining effective accounting processes within a growing manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting skills with hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, including general ledger accounting, inventory and cost accounting, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and ERP systems. The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Corporate Controller and cross-functional business partners and will have opportunities to assume increasing responsibility across the accounting and finance function. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are representative of the role but are not exhaustive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Financial Reporting & General Accounting Perform general ledger accounting activities and maintain accurate and complete financial records. Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, depreciation, and other period-end adjustments. Prepare account reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner. Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Prepare financial schedules and support documentation for monthly and annual financial reporting. Research accounting issues and assist with the application of accounting policies and procedures. Identify unusual or potentially material transactions and communicate findings to the Corporate Controller. Audit Support Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Assist with implementing recommendations resulting from audits or control reviews. Financial Planning & Analysis Support Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Support KPI reporting related to production, inventory, profitability, cash flow, and working capital. Assist with capital expenditure analysis and investment evaluations. Internal Controls & Compliance Support culture of strong internal control environment to safeguard company assets. Support annual audits and other regulatory reviews. Identify financial and operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies. Business Partnering & Collaboration Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Collaborate effectively with other accounting team members, operations, sales, supply chain, HR, and executive leadership. Systems & Process Improvement Support enhancements to ERP, reporting, and accounting systems. Support automation and process improvement initiatives. Improve financial visibility through dashboards, analytics, and reporting tools Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA, CMA, or progress toward a professional accounting certification preferred. Experience 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience. Manufacturing or other inventory-intensive industry experience preferred. Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close required. Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variance analysis strongly preferred. Experience working with an ERP system required; experience with Epicor, QuickBooks, or similar systems preferred. Experience supporting external audits and internal control processes preferred. Technical Skills Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles. Strong general ledger and financial reporting skills. Working knowledge of inventory and cost accounting concepts. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and financial analysis. Ability to analyze large volumes of financial and operational data and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities. Experience with financial reporting, business intelligence, or data visualization tools preferred. Professional Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Financial reporting accuracy and adherence to established deadlines. Inventory accounting accuracy and reconciliation. Quality and timeliness of manufacturing variance analysis. Timely resolution of reconciling items and accounting issues. Audit support effectiveness and responsiveness. Accuracy and usefulness of financial analysis and reporting. Compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
