ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our day-to-day accounting operations. This role is ideal for someone who is strong in accounting, enjoys working with numbers, and can maintain accurate financial records in a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in supporting the finance team with reconciliations, reporting, and overall financial organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor and subcontractor payments, invoicing, and collections. Support payroll processing, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing activities. Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial adjustments. Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Calculate and monitor key financial metrics, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support business decisions. Manage construction job costing, track project budgets against actual expenses, and allocate land, lot, and construction costs. Prepare financial reports, budget-to-actual comparisons, and job profitability analyses. Support cash flow forecasting, construction loan draws, and lender reporting. Work with external CPAs on tax preparation, audits, and financial reviews. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, financial reporting, and overall business performance. Assist with additional accounting, financial analysis, administrative, and operational tasks as needed to support the Finance Team and the company's continued growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Ideally 2-5 years of hands-on accounting or financial analysis experience. Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, and the accounting close process. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, calculate key metrics, and provide meaningful business recommendations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial results clearly to leadership. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems. Experience in public accounting, residential homebuilding, construction, real estate, or job costing is an advantage. Experience with financial forecasting, budgeting, and business performance analysis is a plus. A Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is an advantage. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive, results-driven work ethic. High integrity, accountability, and a commitment to long-term professional growth. Ability to work full-time, on-site in Hickory, NC.
