The Accountant I is an entry-level accounting professional responsible for supporting the accounting department by maintaining financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities. This role works under the supervision of senior accountants.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries.
Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
Assist with month-end and year-end close.
Prepare financial reports, schedules, and account analyses.
Assist with audits by providing requested information.
Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
Support special projects and other accounting duties as assigned.
Monthly sales & tax reporting.
Prepare governmental surveys required by law.
Return W-9 request and other A/R aging requests from customers.
Conduct regular account analysis to identify variances and discrepancies.
Cost monthly inventory.
Assist with regular cycle counts of inventory items.
Maintain fixed asset schedules.
Job Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. 2. 2 years accounting experience. 3. Basic understanding of GAAP. 4. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills 5. Detailed focused and high standards for accuracy and precision. 6. Advanced PC skills including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite 7. Able to work independently. 8. Ability to lift at least 25 pounds. 9. Follow established EWPI safety rules. 10. Work in a safe manner 11. Maintain clean and orderly work area.
Hours:
This is a full-time position. Days of work are typically Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
