Job Description

Job Overview :
Position Available for Assistant to the Rector for Finance & Accounting St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Waxhaw, NC is looking for a part-time bookkeeper/accountant to assist the Rector in the following duties: Prepare weekly deposits and input donations into Breeze and QuickBooks software. Process all A/P invoices, obtain proper approval, and generate checks or ACH payments. Work with an external payroll company to process payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Initiate pension payments and HSA benefits. Reconcile monthly bank statements. Analyze monthly expenses compared to budgeted amounts. Prepare monthly Financial Statements and provide reporting to the Finance Committee. Obtain and record pledges during the annual stewardship campaign. Prepare quarterly and year-end Giving Statements to donors. Document all finance policies and address internal control issues. Assist with yearly audit process. Apply for sales tax refunds with the North Carolina Department of Revenue. Year-end and beginning of year account and pledge set up. Collaborate directly with Preschool Director on preschool reimbursements, payroll, and preschool tuition and miscellaneous deposits. Prepare reports and supply information as requested by Vestry, Treasurer, staff, and members. Team with the church Treasurer and church staff to prepare annual operation budgets. Maintain confidentiality of donations and financial records. Attend monthly Finance Committee meetings. Assist with onboarding new employees including tax forms, pension, and benefits. All other reasonable duties as assigned by the Rector.
Suggested qualifications:
Consistent Life of Prayer Proficient in Church database technologies (preference) and QuickBooks software. Experience with nonprofit organizational accounting (preferred), strong accounting/bookkeeping skills (CPA is a plus). Individual person vs. company.
Evaluation and Compensation:
The Assistant to the Rector for Finance and Accounting will report directly to the Rector. This current position will begin as an approximate 14 hour a week position and expand or decrease as the needs of the parish dictate. Compensation will be based on experience and ability and will be reviewed annually.
Pay:
$50.00 - $55.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 - 12.0 per week
