Position Summary

The Senior Accountant - Manufacturing Operations reports to the Controller, Lindsay Plant and serves as a key finance partner to plant leadership at our Lindsay, Nebraska manufacturing facility. This role will own significant portions of the month-end close, support standard costing and inventory accounting, lead variance analysis, and provide actionable insight that drives cost reduction and margin improvement. We are looking for an experienced accounting professional who can step in quickly, work independently, strengthen internal controls, and help mentor and develop less experienced team members. As part of the Lindsay Finance team, you will work collaboratively with Operations, Supply Chain, Sourcing, Commercial and Corporate Finance to build relationships and accomplish objectives.

Comprehensive, competitive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off and holidays, short- and long-term disability insurance, and an employee stock purchase program Duties & Responsibilities Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Own significant portions of the monthly, quarterly and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP

Prepare and review recurring allocations and reporting across business units, ensuring accuracy and timely completion against close deadlines

Prepare weekly and monthly operations, spend and KPI reporting for plant leadership

Support fixed asset and capital project accounting, including monthly communication of capital spend to project owners Cost Accounting & Inventory Maintain accuracy of product costs, including material, labor and overhead, within a standard cost environment

Support and help own the annual standard cost roll, including validation of bills of material, routings, labor rates and overhead rates

Monitor inventory transactions and valuation; support cycle counts, physical inventories and reserve analysis

Analyze and explain manufacturing variances, including purchase price variance (PPV), labor efficiency, overhead absorption, scrap and shipping

Document standard costing, inventory and variance accounting processes Operations Partnership & Analysis Partner with the plant manager, operations managers, supply chain and sourcing teams to build annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and sales & operations planning (S&OP) inputs

Track actual results against targets and perform root cause analysis to identify drivers of variances

Identify cost reduction, margin improvement and inventory optimization opportunities and present fact-based recommendations

Develop and improve KPIs that give plant leadership visibility into operational and financial performance Audit, Internal Controls & Compliance Support internal and external audits with minimal supervision and follow through on action items

Execute and strengthen internal controls over inventory, costing, reconciliations and financial reporting, including SOX compliance activities

Apply critical thinking to identify risks, resolve issues and communicate potential impacts to stakeholders Process Improvement & Team Development Lead process improvement and standardization efforts across close, costing and reporting

Support ERP and reporting system initiatives, including testing, configuration input and user adoption

Mentor and train junior accounting staff and help build a sustainable, well-documented finance function

Manage multiple assignments independently while meeting deadlines Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field

3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience

Strong working knowledge of GAAP and the full month-end close cycle, including journal entries and account reconciliations

Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of results in a fast-paced environment

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) and proficiency in Microsoft Office

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain financial results to non-finance partners Preferred Qualifications Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

Working knowledge of cost accounting, standard cost systems, inventory accounting and variance analysis

Experience supporting or owning an annual standard cost roll

ERP experience, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar system

Experience with consolidation or reporting tools such as OneStream

CPA or CMA, or progress toward certification
