A well-established real estate development and property management organization is seeking a Commercial Property Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will support a portfolio of commercial properties and be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, lease administration, and financial reporting support. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a solid understanding of accounting principles are essential. Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable & Vendor Management Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities for an assigned portfolio of commercial properties. Review, code, and enter invoices for payment processing. Ensure vendor invoices are processed and paid accurately and on time. Set up, process, and track recurring vendor payments. Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoice status and payments. Prepare and maintain vendor payment reports and aging schedules. Maintain certificates of insurance for vendors, contractors, and subcontractors. Track and maintain tax documentation required for annual reporting. Manage required documentation associated with vendor payments, including insurance certificates, lien waivers, and other contractual requirements. Accounts Receivable & Lease Administration Review tenant billing statements and account ledgers. Monitor tenant accounts to ensure receivables remain current and accurate. Process tenant move-ins and move-outs. Enter and maintain lease information within the property management system. Verify rent calculations and lease charge accuracy in accordance with lease agreements. Maintain and update Common Area Maintenance (CAM) and other lease-related charges. Ensure tenant certificates of insurance remain current and compliant with lease requirements. Coordinate legal filings with outside counsel when necessary. Property Accounting Support Review vendor and tenant accounts to ensure compliance and accuracy. Monitor property utility usage and related billing information. Maintain accurate records across accounting and property management systems. Support accounting and property management teams with additional financial and administrative functions as required. QualificationsEducation Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Minimum of 2 years of commercial real estate, property accounting, or related accounting experience. Experience working with property management or real estate accounting software preferred. Knowledge & Skills Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
