Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in accounting and financial management, demonstrating a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial systems, and compliance standards. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and supporting strategic financial initiatives. Responsibilities Process and reconcile daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial transactions. Prepare and reconcile bank deposits. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and balance general ledger accounts. Assist with payroll processing, payroll tax payments, retirement contributions, and related reporting. Prepare journal entries and support monthly and year-end closing activities. Maintain loan payable and receivable schedules, mortgage records, and principal/interest calculations. Process and reconcile employee benefit invoices, insurance premiums, and benefit deductions while coordinating changes with Human Resources. Prepare and submit required federal, state, and local tax filings, including payroll taxes, SUTA, workers' compensation, and quarterly reporting. Monitor prepaid expenses, fixed assets, amortization schedules, and account reconciliations. Prepare financial schedules and supporting documentation for annual audits. Maintain accurate accounting records, financial worksheets, and supporting documentation. Assist with resident trust fund accounting and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Coordinate with internal departments, including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Human Resources, Development, and Executive Leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting. Provide backup support for front desk operations and other accounting functions as needed. Skills Accounting and General Ledger Management Financial Reporting Bank Reconciliations Journal Entry Preparation Account Reconciliation Payroll Processing and Payroll Accounting Payroll Tax Compliance (Federal, State, FICA, SUTA) Accounts Receivable Cash Management and Cash Receipts Budget Support Financial Analysis Audit Preparation and Documentation Loan and Mortgage Accounting Prepaid Expense Management Trust Fund Accounting Employee Benefits Administration Workers' Compensation Reporting Retirement Plan Administration (403(b) and 457(b)) Tax Filing and Regulatory Compliance Microsoft Excel Microsoft Office Suite Data Entry Accuracy Recordkeeping and Documentation Attention to Detail Analytical Thinking Problem Solving Time Management Organizational Skills Multitasking Deadline Management Confidentiality and Professional Ethics Written and Verbal Communication Team Collaboration Customer Service Adaptability Process Improvement Qualifications One year of basic accounting Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience required Nonprofit or healthcare experience is a plus. Strong understanding of accounting principles, bank reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting. Experience with Microsoft Excel and accounting software for MatrixCare. Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Pay:
$22.00 - $26.00 per hour
