Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations, and supporting financial reporting processes. Your expertise in various accounting software and systems will help maintain accurate financial records, perform reconciliations, and analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making. Duties Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy in double-entry bookkeeping and adherence to accounting standards. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger accounting to verify the integrity of financial data. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft. Conduct account analysis and account reconciliation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly. Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including financial statement preparation and audit support. Handle confidential information with the utmost discretion while maintaining data entry accuracy across multiple systems like Workday, ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, UltiPro, and Paychex. Support internal controls compliance by assisting with SOX testing and documentation procedures. Utilize Excel data analysis skills for financial modeling, variance analysis, and reporting purposes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects involving governmental accounting standards or technical accounting issues. Contribute to process improvements by leveraging expertise in accounting systems such as Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software platforms, and spreadsheets. Experience Demonstrated 2+ years of professional experience in accounting or finance roles within a corporate or public accounting environment. Strong proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems; experience with Workday or UltiPro is a plus. Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and GAAP compliance is highly desirable. Hands-on experience with SOX compliance processes and internal controls testing is preferred. Knowledge of payroll systems like ADP or Ceridian along with time management tools such as Kronos is advantageous. Excellent numeracy skills combined with the ability to perform detailed account analysis and account reconciliation tasks accurately. Strong understanding of technical accounting concepts including journal entries, debits & credits, balance sheet reconciliation, and general ledger management. Proven ability to handle confidential information securely while maintaining high levels of accuracy in data entry and bookkeeping tasks.
