Matter Family Office is looking for an experienced accounting professional with these qualities who is ready to own client relationships and help develop a growing team. The Senior Accountant is a key client-facing role in our independent multi-family office, working side by side with internal team members, client vendors, and outside legal, financial, and tax professionals. Review financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, net worth) and bookkeeping prepared by Staff Accountants for standard clients, ensuring accuracy before publication. Review and, where needed, execute accounts payable and payroll; confirm timely and accurate processing. Own budget-vs-actual analysis for assigned clients and contribute to budgeting and forecasting. Participate in the firm's rolling monthly peer-review and internal-audit process across client entities. Coordinate with third parties, including vendors, bank representatives, accountants, attorneys, and financial advisors. Escalate complex, strategic, or sensitive matters to the Accounting Manager with recommended solutions. Mentor and provide day-to-day guidance to Staff Accountants and support their development. Assist in client-meeting preparation and follow-up by issuing reports and ensuring relevant tasks are completed. Complete special projects as requested. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Strong bookkeeping skills, including consistent monthly data entry, account reconciliation, accurate categorization, and detailed documentation. Over 2 years of current experience with QuickBooks Online and related apps (such as Bill.com, MoneyThumb Slick Connect, etc.). In-depth understanding of CPA requirements for calculating quarterly estimated payments and preparing timely and accurate tax returns for clients. Intermediate knowledge of partnership accounting, differences between book and tax, and estate planning mechanisms. Experience with accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) for individuals/families as well as for entities (LLCs, trusts, etc.). This includes establishing and closing vendor accounts, troubleshooting, and follow-up. Strong understanding of household finances, including budgeting, bill payment, loan and investment mechanics, and cash flow management. Basic knowledge of payroll for household employees, entity payroll, and general contractors, including various tax filings and requirements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills that are clear, concise, and courteous. Analytical, detail-oriented, organized, and diligent when it comes to follow-up tasks. Strong desire to learn and effectively use accounting and financial reporting software. Exceptional time management skills in a high-volume, fast-paced, and deadline-driven work environment. Proactive, self-motivated, and self-directed with a strong sense of urgency. Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
