Sr Accountant role in Denton with Government Agency who offers outstanding benefits and growth opportunities.
The responsibilities of the role include:
- Administer and coordinate activities of the grant fund operations, which includes developing, monitoring, enhancing, and maintaining all accounting functions related to grant and Project Accounting Systems.
- Perform professional accounting tasks such as maintaining and preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting records
- Monitor and record bond project reporting
- Review operations and budget funds to assure compliance with internal policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles
- Perform special projects as assigned, which require a high level of understanding of accounting theory and concepts
- Administer, coordinate, and review cost allocation studies prepared by outside agencies
- Contribute to and/or lead the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
- Guide and support junior accountants.
- Stay current in Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) pronouncements and changes in the accounting profession.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Knowledge of fund accounting, Federal and State funding, rate setting, cost-of-service evaluation, create of long-term financial forecasts and planning.
- Skill at the intermediate level, working with applicable Microsoft Office 365 products, and other software systems to complete work.
- Ability to navigate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and automation tools (e.
