Senior Accountant MB Nutritional Sciences Lubbock, TX Job Details Full-time | Contract $55,000 - $65,000 a year 13 hours ago Benefits Dental insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Qualifications Financial close processing Preparation of internal financial performance reports Microsoft Excel Accounts receivable management Spreadsheets Payroll management Compliance management implementation Accounts payable management Bachelor's degree GAAP QuickBooks Online General ledger system implementation Closing the books Payroll processing Full Job Description Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team and play a hands-on role in building and maintaining a GAAP-compliant accounting function. This is a highly visible role that works directly with the Controller. The right candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment where processes are still being built — and who brings the discipline to help build them right. Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Month-End Close Own the month-end close process, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries in accordance with GAAP Maintain and reconcile all balance sheet accounts with complete supporting documentation Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare monthly financial packages for ownership including P&L, balance sheet, and key operating metrics Support the in reviewing actuals versus budgeted financials and complete variance analyses Maintain fixed asset schedule and calculate GAAP straight-line depreciation Support year-end close and coordinate with the external CPA firm on tax preparation Internal Controls Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures as the function is formalized Identify and communicate accounting discrepancies and recommend corrective action Support the implementation of controls around inventory, purchasing, prior period adjustments, etc. Preferred Experience in agriculture, animal nutrition, food manufacturing, or a related industry Public accounting (CPA firm) background in audit, review, or advisory — strongly preferred Familiarity with inventory management or ERP systems (Katana, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) Multi-location or multi-entity accounting experience Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated proficiency in accrual-basis and GAAPcompliant financial reporting Strong working knowledge of the full accounting cycle — general ledger, AR, AP, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, and financial statement preparation Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) and Microsoft Excel Demonstrated experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliation Preferred Experience in agriculture, animal nutrition, food manufacturing, or releted industry Public accounting (CPA firm) background in audit, review, or advisory-strongly preferred Familiarity with inventory management or ERP systems (Katana, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) Multi-location or multi-entity accounting experience Work Environment This is an on-site position based in Lubbock, Texas. The role works closely with the operations, purchasing, and production teams in addition to the finance function. Candidates must be comfortable in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment where priorities can shift and self-direction is essential. This is not a back-office role — it is a seat at the table as MB builds its financial infrastructure for the next stage of growth.

$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
