About Us Adams Hafen & Co. is a CPA firm that serves as the finance back office for small businesses. Most small business owners can't afford a full-time controller or CFO, but they still need someone handling the money side of their business and telling them what their numbers mean. That's what we do. We handle bookkeeping, payroll, tax preparation and strategy, and overall financial strategy, so owners can run their business with a clear picture of where it stands. The Role You'll own a book of 10 to 20 small business clients and be their fractional CFO. You'll keep their books, prepare their taxes, and help them understand and plan around their numbers. We're also an AI-forward firm. We use tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Grok throughout our work, and we're looking for someone who will help us build AI into every part of our firm's process. What You'll Do Monthly bookkeeping for your clients in QuickBooks Online Review financial statements with business owners monthly or quarterly and help them understand what their financials are telling them Prepare business and individual returns (1120-S, 1065, 1040) in CCH Axcess and provide year-round tax planning and strategy Be the main point of contact for all client communication Help design and implement AI workflows across the firm, from bookkeeping to tax prep to client communication What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in accounting (required); CPA license or Master of Accountancy preferred 5+ years of tax experience, including S corp and partnership returns Experience with CCH Axcess and QuickBooks Online Experience managing your own clients Well versed in AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Grok, with the judgment to check their work and protect client data A self-starter who solves problems independently. When you're handed a task you've never done before, you use AI and your own resourcefulness to figure it out without hand-holding.
