Junior Payroll Accountant - Eastern Timezone We love construction. We love accounting. We love payroll. Most of all, we love making people's lives easier by handling their payroll processing so they can spend more time running their construction companies. Silvertrek Systems is seeking a Junior Payroll Accountant to join our team. This position is primarily responsible for payroll processing, setup, monthly, quarterly, and annual filings, and audit and reconciliation work. This is a full-time in office position based in Battle Ground, WA. Daily hours 6am-3pm Here is what you get: $30.00 per hour starting wage, with room to grow. 2 weeks paid time off per year. You can't just work all the time! The work is fun, fresh and dynamic. We aren't big on stress. So, while we will expect you to work efficiently and get things done, we focus on open communication and getting things done right the first go around. After 90 days you can open a retirement account, and we'll match your contribution up to 4%. After 90 days you will also be eligible for health insurance (generous premium coverage). After a year here, you get a share of the profits. That means the hard work you put into making the company succeed gets rewarded with cold hard cash. After 2 years of loyal service, you get an additional 2 weeks of paid vacation per year, but it comes with a catch! It's not optional and you must take it consecutively without access to email (seriously!). We call this the Intermission, and it helps us strengthen our internal processes just as much as it helps you relax and unwind. Here is what we expect from you: Your primary job will be managing the payroll processing for various construction companies across multiple states. The Junior Payroll Accountant is responsible for full ownership of assigned payroll clients, including payroll processing, routine tax filings, reconciliations, and documentation maintenance. As a Junior Payroll Accountant, you will work with a team of Payroll Specialists and support them with their day-to-day processing. This role represents the transition from execution (Payroll Specialist) to ownership. The Junior Payroll Accountant independently manages standard payroll cycles and routine compliance matters while escalating complex or non-routine issues appropriately. The Junior Accountant is accountable for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance within their client portfolio. Communication with coworkers and customers is critical. You should be good at troubleshooting issues and proposing solutions. You must be able to carefully follow internal documentation and established processes. You need to nail down the details. You are the kind of person who is organized and likes having all the labels in the pantry facing forward. You prioritize getting the work done right over simply getting the work done. You aren't afraid of critical thinking when faced with an issue. You need to be the type of person who gets joy out of getting things done. Every day there is a lot to do. You are motivated to be a part of the big picture by trying your best, even when things get tough. Your work environment will vary little - you will be in our office or conducting online meetings (internal, as well as weekly customer check ins). You will be expected to communicate with our clients as needed for your payrolls or other payrolls you may be covering. So, you need to enjoy talking with people and giving/getting direction each and every day. You need to be okay with ambiguity, feel comfortable asking questions and be ready to guide yourself using self-direction. Our office is casual, but we do expect professionalism and punctuality. You must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field . We prefer (but do not require) you to have at least 2 years of payroll experience. Also, other accounting experience will be a plus. You must be comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and working with computers in general. We do not expect you to know our specific software, as we can and will teach you that. We expect intelligence, energy, and a get-it-done attitude. When you have questions, you will find the answers by harnessing the vast collective intelligence of our team. In addition to being a detailed person, you must follow systems and processes. Make sure to answer the application questions. When applying, please answer the screening question: "What phrase should applicants include to show attention to detail?" The correct answer is: "I'm ready to join the trek!" This helps us quickly identify detail-oriented candidates. We are looking to spend the necessary time to find the best fit both in abilities and culture. One thing that will give you a BIG leg up (but is optional) is to send a quick video telling us why you think you will rock this position. This is purely for us to get a sense of your personality.
