Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) provides energy industry solutions - new equipment, retrofits, maintenance, outage planning and more - for current and future power generation needs in the Americas, including thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants. Position Summary We are seeking a Project Accountant II to work out of our West Allis, WI office. The Project Accountant II performs general accounting work including recording of routine accounting transactions and assisting in the preparation of the financial reports and in the analysis and interpretations of accounting records for use by management. The Project Accountant II is responsible for costing records including preparation of journal entries, review and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, set up and maintenance of Project records, cost accounting and collections. The position serves as a key partner in the finance department and provides tactical and strategic analysis with recommendations that drive profitability improvement or enhance operational efficiencies. The individual is responsible for ensuring revenues, inventories and costs of goods sold are properly stated, based on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Essential Duties Set up & maintain project records in ERP Project Accounting and tracking systems Collaborate with Project Managers (PM) and Contract Administrators (CA) to analyze project costs and understand cost variances Support PM and CA in the timely issuance of invoices with a strong focus on managing Accounts Receivables and Project Cash Flows Ensure accurate project cost accruals through review of project open commitments, accounts payable with project reports and vendor invoices Ensure project revenue budgets agree with customer contracts/purchase orders and cost budgets reflect reasonable and accurate estimates to complete Ensure that project revenue recognition reflects an accurate measure of progress in accordance with ASC 606 and US-GAAP Prepare and process journal entries and reconcile key project related general ledger accounts, including Unbilled Receivables, Unearned Revenue, Work In Process, Accruals, and Revenue and Cost of Sales Review revenue budgets and cost estimates for major projects; report significant swings and quantify impacts on overall progress and costs to complete Support development of monthly project forecasts and financial reports Support internal and external audits Assist the Operations Controller and other accounting and finance team members as needed. Education and Required Experience Bachelor's degree required, strong preference for Accounting or Finance major 2-4 years related project accounting experience Knowledge of GAAP Knowledge and experience in project accounting, cost accounting, budgeting Experience with large construction projects, power industry preferred. Strong ability to communicate effectively with on-site personnel. Demonstrated expertise with Excel and data export and analysis tools Critical thinking and application to US GAAP principles Ability to understand and gather adequate audit support Certifications and Licenses CPA or CMA preferred Physical Requirements ( The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.) Work Environment The majority of this work takes place in an office and the work environment is that of a typical office environment in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are usually moderate. Frequently the employee will interact with personnel in the plant where he/she may be exposed to higher noise levels.
