Job Description

At Halsted, our reputation rests on integrity and compliance. Our internal audit team is how we make sure that holds up in every detail. As an Internal Audit Assistant, you'll help the team review results from our Excel- and Python-based data analysis, turn findings into clear summaries for management, and track exceptions and corrective actions across areas like call monitoring, credit reporting, and inventory management. You don't need to know debt collection regulations coming in. We'll train you on the frameworks that govern our industry, so you can focus on doing careful, accurate work and growing your skills. What You'll Do Review & Validate Audit Data Check the reports. You'll review the data and exception reports produced by our audit team's Python scripts and Excel workbooks to make sure they're accurate and complete. Confirm the findings. You'll compare the results against source data and our internal system records to confirm each issue was identified correctly. Help with data requests. You'll assist senior audit staff with data pulls, formatting, and light analysis in Excel and Python as needs come up. Communicate Findings Write clear summaries. You'll draft short, easy-to-read summaries of audit findings, observations, and risk ratings for senior audit staff and management to review. Track Exceptions & Corrective Actions Log every issue. You'll record exceptions in our tracking logs and make sure each one has the right category, risk rating, and owner. Follow issues to the finish. You'll help maintain our Corrective Action Plan (CAP) trackers, keep an eye on due dates, and check in on progress until each issue is fixed. Work across teams. You'll reach out to other departments to collect supporting documents or answer questions about open items. Support Audit Cycles & Recordkeeping Keep audits on schedule. You'll support our monthly and quarterly audits, including call monitoring, credit reporting exception reviews, and inventory management. Keep records organized. You'll maintain audit workpapers and supporting documents according to our internal recordkeeping standards. Protect sensitive information. You'll keep consumer and company information confidential and secure, following the GLBA Safeguards Rule. What You Bring Required Education. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Excel skills. You're comfortable with formulas, pivot tables, and basic data validation. Openness to Python. You're willing to learn Python for data analysis. We'll help you build the skill. An eye for detail. You notice discrepancies and errors in data that others might miss. Clear writing. You can explain findings simply so someone without a technical background understands them. Organization. You can keep track of many open items and logs at the same time without letting anything slip. Interest in compliance. You have a basic understanding of the FDCPA, FCRA, and GLBA, or you're willing to learn them. Discretion. You handle confidential consumer financial information with care and good judgment. A Plus Python experience. You've used Python for data analysis before, such as with pandas. Relevant experience. You've had an internship, coursework, or a project in accounting, auditing, or data analytics. Industry background. You've worked in compliance, banking, financial services, or collections. Why You'll Like It Here Training. We'll teach you the FDCPA, FCRA, and GLBA so you can grow into the role with confidence. Real, marketable skills. This role builds a strong foundation for a long-term career in internal audit or compliance. A supportive team. You'll join a professional, team-oriented culture where people come to learn, grow, and make a real impact. An easy commute.
