Position Summary The Weatherization Energy Auditor conducts residential energy audits and inspections to identify cost-effective opportunities to improve energy efficiency, health, safety, and comfort. This position collects and analyzes building and utility data, performs diagnostic testing, develops weatherization recommendations, and prepares detailed work orders for crews and contractors. Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre-inspections and energy audits of residential properties.
• Collect accurate measurements and building data, including the thermal envelope, insulation, air leakage, mechanical systems, and electrical base loads.
• Analyze utility bills and energy usage to identify savings opportunities.
• Perform diagnostic testing, including blower-door, duct leakage, pressure, ventilation, and combustion-safety testing.
• Identify air leakage, moisture, indoor air quality, ventilation, combustion, and other building-performance issues.
• Evaluate heating, cooling, and distribution systems and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and proper equipment sizing.
• Use DOE-approved energy audit software and/or priority lists to develop cost-effective weatherization recommendations.
• Prioritize measures based on energy savings, cost effectiveness, health and safety, and applicable program requirements.
• Develop accurate scopes of work, material estimates, and clearly written work orders for crews and contractors.
• Ensure recommended measures comply with applicable DOE, State of Utah, program, and building requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with homeowners, contractors, coworkers, and program staff.
• Follow all agency safety procedures and weatherization program requirements. Required Knowledge & Skills
• Residential building science, including heat and air flow, insulation, air sealing, moisture, ventilation, and thermal boundaries.
• Energy auditing and diagnostic testing principles.
• Residential HVAC and combustion appliance safety.
• Weatherization materials, installation practices, and applicable program standards.
• Ability to collect, calculate, interpret, and document building and energy data.
• Ability to use computers and DOE-approved energy audit software.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team. Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior weatherization experience and training/certification through the State of Utah Weatherization Program.
• Working knowledge of construction principles, energy/building codes, and state-approved weatherization practices.
• Basic computer skills.
• Valid Utah driver's license by date of employment.
• Ability to successfully complete required post-offer employment medical examination and program-required training/certifications. Required/Expected Certifications & Training Training and/or certification must be completed as required by the program, including applicable:
• Blower Door
• Duct Blaster
• Zonal Pressure
• Boundary Pressure
• RMGA
• Lead Supervisor
• Weatherization Energy Auditor Physical & Working Conditions This position involves frequent field work in occupied residential properties and exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, heat, cold, fiberglass, and other construction-related materials. The employee must be able to:
• Work in crawl spaces, attics, and other confined or difficult-to-access areas.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach overhead, and work in various positions for extended periods.
• Work on uneven, wet, or slippery surfaces.
• Lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and construction materials, including up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Safely use common hand and power tools.

Agency vehicles are used to transport employees, equipment, and materials. Travel outside the local area may be required, as well as occasional meetings or training outside normal working hours.
