Job Description:

Accounting Assistant Brown's Shoe Fit Company is seeking an organized and efficient Accounting Assistant with an eye for detail and accuracy to join our team. This position is entry to mid-level with room for growth and learning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide accounting and clerical support to our retail stores
Responsible for weekly reporting
Assist with data entry of accounts payable and wholesale invoices
Assist with reconciliation of vendor statements
Assist with general office filing
Assist with retrieval and processing of incoming and outgoing mail
Assist with general office duties including making copies, scanning documents, faxing, and mailing
Assist with monthly reconciliations as needed
Performs other duties as directed
Demonstrates regular and dependable attendance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and terminology
Ability to perform basic math: addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and find percentages
Ability to work independently and work cooperatively with others
Ability to work with employees, business partners, and customers in a friendly and positive manner
Ability to use judgment and discretion
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to use a computer and knowledge of standard and specific business applications, such as computerized accounting, ten key calculator, e-mail, electronic spreadsheet development, database, and word processing; ability to learn new software applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent
1 yr office/bookkeeping/accounting experience
Computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Office products
Experience with Sage 100, preferred
