The Flock Services and customer support position is responsible for directing and coordinating all flock activities across Nelson Poultry Farms locations. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficient operation of chick orders and/or placement, pullet growing, and other essential flock services. Additional responsibilities will include answering the phones, filing, assist with the day-to-day operation of the accounting office, and assist the owner or office manager with any special projects as needed. Essential Job Functions Direct and coordinate all scheduling and activities related to chick placement, pullet vaccination, weekly flock reports, pullet movements and loadouts. Details of these duties are as follows: • Keep track of all chicks hatched or delivered and put in our barns. Ensure barn managers are documenting mortality and obtaining weights timely during the growing process. Gather flock information from all barns including feed, vaccine, weights, and mortality and inputting information into a flock report to share with customers. Working with production managers on what feed formulas to give to the birds each week. Entering feed orders into the Feed Office Pro software. After the feed is delivered, obtain and process the feed delivery tickets through the account software. Updating grow schedules for each flock and working with customers to determine lighting, temp, and vaccinations. Ordering and setting out vaccines that need to be administered weekly. Entering vaccine used into the accounting software. At the end of each month, reconcile vaccine inventory. Create NPIPs and gather all flock paperwork for all pullets leaving the facility. Ensure all lab work and testing is done timely and results are received. Track grain harvests, inbound and outbound tickets from the feed mill, and reconcile ingredient inventory each month. There are also a few basic accounting duties such as reconciling bank accounts monthly, enter monthly recurring journal entries, entering deposits, and ACH payments. May include other projects as needed. Communication • Maintain an open line of communication with management, production managers, and barn staff. Handle a variety of matters at one time involving various staff and management. Communicate effectively and in a timely manner utilizing the appropriate chain of command. • Skilled in customer service and working with a variety of people. Job Requirements High school graduate or equivalent Prefer general accounting experience Very proficient with Microsoft Office especially Excel Accuracy and timely attention to detail Reliable transportation Willingness to take on new tasks Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Knowledge, Skills & Experience Willingness and ability to learn new accounting software Ability to communicate well with others Ability to multitask and be organized Extremely important to have attention to detail
