Accounting/Bookkeeping:
5 years progressively responsible experience (Preferred) 3 years' experience working in low-income housing environment or HUD subsidized housing (Preferred) Considerable experience in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and general office machines including 10-key calculator Ability to set and meet deadlines Must be able to meet attendance requirements Must possess a valid State of Mississippi driver's license and maintain a good driving record. Job Summary The Part-time Bookkeeper assists the full-time Bookkeeper and is responsible for protecting the assets of the Agency and performing all financial functions required for the successful administration of all funds received by the Agency in accordance with HUD and GAAP regulations. This is accomplished by conducting monthly bank reconciliation, preparing HUD subsidy drawdowns, calculating monthly assets, bookkeeping, and preparing reports, preparing year-end, semi-annual, and quarterly reports.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
Enters and posts invoices into the financial accounting system Maintains vendor information
Payroll:
Verifies and accurately processes payroll records for all new employees Updates payroll records into payroll data system in a timely manner Generates General Ledger (GL) interface report using applicable software Prepares check requests Maintains various employee benefit programs, such as group insurance, life, medical, dental, vision, accident, and disability insurance, and retirement savings.
Accounts Receivable:
Reviews all remittances for accuracy to identify errors or questionable data Responsible for posting late fees or other fees Assists in preparation and maintaining information required for audits and/or HUD monitoring reviews Researches and resolves unapplied/unidentified cash receipts, reconciles payments and shortages, and maintain auditable records. Posts HAP and generates a report that reflects all charges
