Part-Time Bookkeeper Oasis - A Haven for Women and Children - 3.4 Paterson, NJ Job Details Part-time $25 an hour 4 hours ago Qualifications Microsoft Word Teamwork Confidential information handling Spreadsheets Bachelor's degree Attention to detail QuickBooks Business Administration Data accuracy checks Quality data entry Time management Full Job Description About the Position Oasis is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper to join our Finance team. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for supporting the organization's day-to-day accounting functions and maintaining accurate financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, experience with QuickBooks Desktop and Excel, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with management and staff. Key Responsibilities Assist with all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Enter and process biweekly payroll in QuickBooks. Maintain, reconcile, and balance the general ledger . Process cash and credit card deposits . Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor files . Track and reconcile the petty cash account . Set up new vendors and maintain existing vendor information. Prepare grant compliance reports and supporting financial documentation. Prepare financial statements, reports, and projections, including: Profit and loss statements and balance sheets. Perform other related duties as requested by the Executive Director. Assist with maintaining accurate and timely financial records in accordance with GAAP. Use sound judgment and problem-solving skills when addressing accounting issues and discrepancies. Maintain confidentiality of financial and client-related information. Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and continuing education as appropriate. Work collaboratively with management and other staff to support organizational goals. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or Executive Director. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field . Minimum of 4 years of successful experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role. Nonprofit bookkeeping and/or fund accounting experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and accounting systems. Highly proficient in QuickBooks Desktop, Microsoft Excel, ADP and Microsoft Word Strong data-entry and numerical skills. Demonstrated ability to accurately calculate, post, reconcile, and manage accounting information. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to exercise sound judgment, analyze information, and solve problems. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately. Ability to work effectively with individuals in a variety of roles and settings.
