Job Description

SecureNet Fiber is a locally owned fiber internet provider headquartered in South Charleston, West Virginia, serving residential and business customers in West Virginia and Virginia. We're seeking a hands-on CFO / Controller to lead accounting operations, manage financial performance, and help guide the company's growth. Working directly with ownership, you'll take responsibility for accurate financial reporting, cash management, budgeting, financing, and evaluating investments in our network and business. This opportunity is well suited to an experienced Controller or finance leader who enjoys working through the details and taking an active role in business decisions. In this role, you will: Lead accounting operations: Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, billing reconciliation, collections, and payroll accounting.
Own financial reporting:
Complete monthly and annual closes, reconcile accounts, and produce accurate financial statements with clear explanations of business performance.
Manage cash flow:
Develop cash forecasts, manage working capital, and anticipate operating and capital funding needs.
Build budgets and forecasts:
Prepare annual budgets and financial projections, monitor results, and recommend adjustments.
Track network investment:
Maintain project costing, fixed asset records, and capitalization schedules for fiber construction, equipment, and infrastructure.
Improve profitability:
Analyze recurring revenue, service margins, operating expenses, customer acquisition costs, and performance by market.
Lead financing efforts with ownership:
Evaluate funding options, prepare financial models and lender materials, manage banking relationships, and oversee debt reporting.
Support expansion and acquisitions:
Evaluate investment returns, model opportunities, and support financial due diligence.
Manage partnership accounting:
Oversee financial reporting and reconciliations for municipal partnerships and revenue-sharing agreements.
Strengthen financial processes:
Improve accounting systems, internal controls, purchasing approvals, and management reporting.
Coordinate outside expertise:
Work with external accountants, tax advisors, auditors, and legal counsel on financial and compliance matters. We're looking for someone with: Five or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including responsibility for financial reporting and accounting operations. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, month-end close, internal controls, budgeting, and cash management. Experience building financial models and turning financial information into practical business recommendations. Proficiency with accounting software and Excel. Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently. Clear communication skills and confidence working directly with ownership and operations. A degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent relevant experience. CPA or CMA credentials are preferred. Experience in telecommunications, broadband, construction, utilities, or another business with significant infrastructure investment is also preferred. You'll have direct access to ownership and the opportunity to shape the finance function while supporting a local company that connects communities.
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
