Legal Bill Analyst
Job Description
Description Our client, a well-established Fortune 500 organization, is seeking a Legal Bill Analyst to join its legal operations team for a 3-month contract period with possibily for extension. This role is ideal for a legal billing professional, legal bill reviewer, or workers' compensation defense legal support professional with strong analytical skills and experience evaluating legal invoices. The Legal Bill Analyst will primarily be responsible for reviewing and analyzing outside counsel invoices through CounselLink, ensuring billing practices align with company guidelines and determining whether charges are reasonable and appropriate. This position does not involve direct case handling but does require a solid understanding of workers' compensation defense matters to effectively evaluate billing activity and related documentation. This is a hybrid role with candidates expected to report on-site to the Walnut Creek office 3 days a week and work remotely 2 days a week. Key Responsibilities
+ Review and analyze legal invoices submitted through CounselLink.
+ Evaluate billing entries for accuracy, reasonableness, and compliance with established billing guidelines.
+ Identify billing discrepancies, questionable charges, and guideline exceptions.
+ Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding invoice review findings and billing-related questions.
+ Review documents, correspondence, and claim-related information within the claims management system as needed to support invoice evaluations.
+ Apply knowledge of workers' compensation defense practices to assess the appropriateness of legal services billed.
+ Maintain accurate records and documentation of invoice review decisions.
+ Support legal operations and claims teams with additional billing and reporting-related projects as assigned. Requirements Qualifications
+ Experience reviewing legal invoices, legal billing, e-billing, legal spend management, or related legal operations functions.
+ Prior experience using CounselLink strongly preferred.
+ Understanding of workers' compensation defense and associated legal processes.
+ Experience working within a law firm, insurance carrier, third-party administrator (TPA), or corporate legal department preferred.
+ Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.
+ Ability to interpret billing guidelines and apply them consistently.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
