Indian Self Determination Act. This position is locally based in Anchorage, AK in the Ethics and Compliance Department. This role has a hybrid work schedule and requires in-person meetings on campus.
Summary:
Under general supervision, the Policies and Procedures Specialist develops, edits and maintains policy and procedure documents used across the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium. The position supports the Ethics and Compliance Department.
Responsibilities:
Oversees and manages the operational process for development review, revisions, approval and implementation for ANTHC policies and procedures, including policies related to the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC) accredited campus. Oversees the Ethics and Compliance Department's electronic policy management system and is responsible for ongoing administration of the policy management system. Ensures policy and procedure owners include all required elements in documents by working directly with the owners on how policies and procedures are to be structured and written in compliance with the Ethics and Compliance Services Department's policy standards. Responsible for accurate content in and appropriate usage of the ANTHC policy management system including maintaining archived historical versions of draft and published policies and procedures in compliance with ANTHC's record retention requirements. Researches as requested for policies and procedure
either current or archived as appropriate for revisions, investigations, or as requested for legal purposes.
Is the subject matter expert for ANTHC on policy and procedure standards and use of the policy management system. Advises workforce in identifying stakeholders who may be affected by changes in new or revised policies and procedures. May participate in the development and performance of strategic risk assessments, work plans, and corrective action plans. Edits and proofreads policies and procedures for accuracy, readability, coherence, clarity and consistency. Reviews policies and procedures with subject matter experts and stakeholders. Verifies that documents do not conflict with ANTHC authority, regulatory requirements, and/or other ANMC policies and procedures. Notifies the ANTHC workforce when ANTHC policies and procedures are due for review and revisions. Tracks the status of policies and procedures as they move through the review and approval process, identifies issues and delays, and takes appropriate action to ensure progress continues. Develops strategies to effectively communicate and assist document "owners" with the content and intent of policies and procedures. Prepares and presents policies and procedures' reports, review status, results, and recommendations to committees, as appropriate. Promotes workforce awareness of organizational policies and procedures. Provides and/or facilitates education and training in policies and procedures for new and existing employees through the policy and procedure system. Provides ongoing advice, consultation, and feedback on policies and procedures. Monitors and reviews trends in health organization policies and procedures. Conducts research and benchmarking exercises and implements best practices as appropriate. Functions as policy and procedure liaison between internal/external customers, internal/external auditors, business partners, committees, consultants, insurance carriers, federal/state agency staff, and contractors. Performs other duties as assigned specific to Ethics and Compliance Services, including assistance on investigations, auditing and trainings. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
Bachelor's Degree in English, Paralegal Studies, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Adult Education, Regulatory Compliance, or related field. Progressively responsible professional work-related experience, education, or training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Non-supervisory
Five (5) years of document development and management, legal or paralegal experience, and/or technical writing.
