at Capital One in Riverwoods, Illinois, United States Job Description Compliance Director, Fair & Responsible Banking Compliance (Regulatory Consumer Center of Excellence) The Fair and Responsible Banking (F&RB) function, part of the Enterprise Risk Organization's Compliance & Ethics department, is seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and forward-thinking Compliance Director. This Director will assume overall responsibility for the development, delivery, and ongoing management of the new Consumer Center of Excellence, a compliance program responsible for the Enterprise standards and strategic oversight for: + Multilingual governance to ensure compliance with the Equal Credit Opportunity Act ( ECOA ), Regulation B, and
UDAAP / UDAP
laws with respect to the provision of the multilingual customer experience
+ Servicemember laws and protections ( SCRA , MLA )
+ Credit bureau furnishing and FCRA disputes
+ FCRA prescreen advertising This role will lead the development, maturation, and maintenance of programs and governance structures that allow Capital One's businesses to offer financial products and services while strictly adhering to regulatory expectations. Successful Directors in Fair and Responsible Banking Compliance are highly motivated professionals possessing deep subject matter expertise in compliance management systems and consumer protection laws, and who have a natural passion for managing risk coupled with strong project management, process, and analytical skills. The role requires strong organizational, leadership, and communication abilities and offers significant exposure to executives across various lines of business.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead the development, maturation, and continuous enhancement of the Regulatory Consumer Center of Excellence compliance programs
+ Provide robust oversight of these programs through strong governance, rigorous controls and monitoring, and clear risk escalation processes
+ Report program results to senior management and stakeholders, as appropriate
+ Develop, execute, and monitor work plans for the effective build out of the program and audit-ready program frameworks
+ Cultivate a highly collaborative environment with other risk teams and partner groups to develop efficient engagement routines within an integrated and seamless risk experience for the business
+ Effectively balance competing priorities and demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to new information or circumstances to ensure team objectives are met
