Manufacturing / Environmental Compliance About the Role We are seeking a motivated and experienced Environmental Compliance Supervisor to join a manufacturing facility in Crookston, MN . This position serves as the primary on-site contact for environmental regulatory agencies and is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable environmental permits, regulations, sampling requirements, testing, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting. The Environmental Compliance Supervisor will work closely with plant leadership, environmental professionals, operators, maintenance teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to identify and resolve compliance issues and maintain strong environmental performance. Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Serve as the primary facility contact with state and environmental regulatory agencies. Participate in regulatory inspections and environmental audits. Maintain inspection documentation and communicate findings to facility and corporate leadership. Troubleshoot environmental noncompliance issues and implement corrective actions. Maintain a thorough understanding of all environmental permits applicable to the facility. Coordinate and prepare monthly, semiannual, and annual environmental reports. Maintain environmental records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements. Oversee outside contractors to ensure compliance with environmental requirements. Air Quality / Title V Compliance Conduct daily opacity testing and maintain required records. Coordinate required emissions testing for PM10, SO2, NOX, CO, CO2/greenhouse gases, opacity, and other regulated emissions. Monitor compliance at emission sources, including dryers, boilers, lime kilns, baghouses, cyclones, and related equipment. Coordinate corrective actions and retesting when emissions are outside permitted limits. Maintain operating and maintenance plans for air pollution control equipment. Monitor daily hydrogen sulfide levels and take appropriate corrective action to maintain compliance. Wastewater & Stormwater Coordinate with wastewater operators and laboratory personnel to ensure timely and accurate water sampling. Monitor wastewater test results and investigate treatment performance issues. Ensure compliance with NPDES wastewater discharge requirements. Prepare and submit monthly electronic Discharge Monitoring Reports (eDMRs). Monitor wastewater treatment operations to improve performance, throughput, uptime, and chemical efficiency. Ensure compliance with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) requirements. Solid Waste & Landfill Management Ensure the facility's inert lime landfill remains compliant with applicable regulations. Coordinate landfill operator training and maintain required certifications. Oversee groundwater monitoring, soil testing, surface water collection, storage, and odor monitoring associated with waste management activities. Manage land application fields and related environmental requirements. Coordinate byproduct hauling, disposal, and management. Conduct site inspections and ensure pulp, tailings, and industrial byproducts are handled within permitted requirements. Complete required annual byproduct management reporting. Maintain compliance with applicable industrial byproduct management requirements. Maintenance, Spill Prevention & Hazardous Materials Coordinate environmental maintenance activities and projects in wastewater areas. Work with maintenance leadership on planning and scheduling environmental projects. Maintain Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans. Coordinate SPCC training and required inspections. Manage the facility's hazardous waste storage area. Coordinate proper handling and disposal of solvents, radioactive sources, PCBs, asbestos, and other regulated materials. Maintain Tier II reporting and chemical usage records. Support facility housekeeping, perimeter maintenance, snow removal, and related environmental responsibilities as required. Leadership & Team Collaboration Promote a strong safety, integrity, quality, teamwork, and accountability culture. May supervise union employees and outside contractors performing environmental activities. Partner regularly with corporate environmental personnel to ensure compliance with existing and evolving regulations. Collaborate with plant management, maintenance, operations, laboratory, agricultural, and environmental teams. Escalate unusual or significant environmental issues to facility and corporate leadership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or four-year technical education in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related field . Experience with environmental compliance in a manufacturing, industrial, agricultural, or processing environment preferred. Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permits, reporting, and compliance requirements. Knowledge of air, wastewater, stormwater, solid waste, hazardous waste, and environmental permitting. Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies, contractors, plant personnel, and corporate environmental teams. Valid driver's license required. Required Certifications / Licensing Candidates must be able to obtain applicable environmental certifications and licenses within the required timeframe, including: Waste Disposal Facility Operator III
