$65,000 per year About Us [ Liberty & Plenty Distillery is a growing craft distillery proudly based in Durham and Wilson, North Carolina. We are passionate about producing high-quality spirits, expanding our distribution footprints, and scaling our operational infrastructure. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Distillery Operations & Compliance Manager to serve as the critical hub connecting our production floor, financial accounting, and regulatory compliance networks. Position Overview This is a high-impact position designed for an ambitious professional looking to own the operational and administrative ecosystem of a scaling craft distillery. You will bridge the gap between day-to-day operations and financial reporting by managing specialized distillery software, handling full-charge bookkeeping, and navigating the complex landscape of federal, state, and international alcohol regulations.
Serve as the internal administrator for the DISTILL x 5 (FIVE x 5) enterprise system. Accurately log production runs, track raw materials, record warehouse storage data, and maintain precise proof gallon metrics.
Regulatory Compliance Oversight:
Act as the primary custodian of our federal and state compliance logs. Independently prepare and submit monthly TTB reports (including Form 5000.24 excise tax returns), maintain bonded inventory records, and ensure zero-defect regulatory standing.
State & Export Coordination:
Interface directly with the North Carolina ABC Commission (NCABC) to manage local broker interactions, price listings, and state bailment inventory logistics. Coordinate and verify accurate paperwork required by federal Spirit Export Rules.
Accounting & Financials:
Manage standard double-entry accounting processes including accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR), payroll processing, vendor management, and basic bank reconciliations. Seamlessly sync batch-costing numbers into our main accounting software.
Required Qualifications Experience:
5 + years of administrative, bookkeeping, or operations management experience. Direct experience within the craft beverage sector (distillery, brewery, or winery) is highly preferred, but strong transferable compliance/logistics skills will be considered.
Software Mastery:
Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with DISTILL x 5 (or alternative beverage ERPs like Whiskey Systems) and standard accounting suites (such as QuickBooks or NetSuite). Advanced efficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
Regulatory Acumen:
Familiarity with or the ability to quickly master TTB regulations, NCABC reporting requirements, and international shipping documentation.
Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (equivalent professional experience heavily considered).

Physical Requirements Must be able to comfortably work in a combined office and active production environment. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, and kneel. Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 lbs. (e.g., handling retail cases, moving raw materials, or assisting with inventory organization).
