Job Description

Job Overview Safety Director - Trucking Company We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and highly organized Safety Director to oversee our company's safety and DOT compliance programs. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a strong safety culture, supporting our professional drivers, protecting our CSA performance, and ensuring company operations remain compliant with FMCSA and DOT regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in the trucking industry, strong knowledge of
DOT/FMCSA
regulations, and the ability to communicate effectively with drivers and management. We are looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, professional, and comfortable handling both day-to-day safety responsibilities and more serious situations such as accidents, inspections, violations, and compliance issues. Responsibilities Oversee company-wide DOT and FMCSA safety compliance. Monitor and help improve company CSA scores and BASIC performance. Review driverHours of Service (HOS), ELD logs, Personal Conveyance, and log violations. Coach and educate drivers regarding safe driving practices and regulatory compliance. Maintain accurate Driver Qualification Files (DQFs) and required safety documentation. Monitor CDL status, medical certificates, MVRs, annual reviews, and other driver credentials. Manage DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements and related documentation. Review roadside inspections, citations, warnings, and violations and coordinate appropriate follow-up. Manage accident reporting, documentation, investigation, and follow-up. Communicate with drivers following accidents, incidents, safety concerns, or compliance violations. Work with insurance providers, law enforcement, repair facilities, and other parties when necessary following an accident. Conduct safety meetings, driver training, and ongoing safety education. Develop and enforce company safety policies and procedures. Monitor driver performance and identify trends that may require additional coaching or corrective action. Assist management with DOT audits, compliance reviews, and safety-related documentation. Stay current on changes to FMCSA, DOT, HOS, CDL, and trucking safety regulations. Proven experience in safety compliance management, preferably within logistics or transportation industries. Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices related to logistics operations. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective safety programs and policies. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct thorough safety audits and investigations. Effective communication skills for training staff and collaborating across departments. Leadership qualities with the ability to influence a safety-conscious culture throughout the organization. Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training are preferred.
Pay:
$76,133.45 - $91,687.59 per year
