JOB SUMMARY
The Compliance Officer will oversee the day-to-day operations of the ASLH compliance program that covers compliance, QAPI, Risk Management and Infection Control. Responsibilities including, but are not limited to, the development and standardization of policies and procedures for compliance, auditing and monitoring, training and education, compliance investigations, and reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least three to five years' healthcare compliance/regulatory experience preferred Associate Degree in Clinical Field; if non-clinical a Bachelor's Degree or higher Strong knowledge and understanding of health care compliance programs in the area of developing, implementing, and managing compliance programs Demonstrated ability in compliance and policy implementation and/or auditing Compliance Certifications preferred, but not required Proficient in current computer system(s), including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Exceptional organizational skills, effective time management, ability to multi-task while still paying close attention to detail; meticulous Ability to take initiative and to see projects through to completion Ability to work collaboratively and compassionately with other directors and staff in a fast growing, fast-paced, and changing work environment Team player who shares and participates in the vision and goals of ASLH Ability to maintain confidentiality
JOB RELATIONSHIPS
Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer/Administrator and indirectly to the ASLH Board of Commissioners. This position supervises the facilities' adherence to the compliance ogram and any compliance liaisons assigned at the facilities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for the implementation of monitoring of the organization's quality assessment performance improvement (QAPI) program Ensures that there are processes in place to monitor and measure all activities related to performance improvement Provides direction and coordination of QAPI activities utilizing continuous quality improvement principles and methodologies Coordinates activities related to clinical record review for data collection Compiles, trends and reports quality data in the following areas: patient care, safety, risk management, infection control, outcomes, and customer satisfaction. Data is analyzed and compared internally and externally with other sources when available Works collaboratively with clinical managers to assure documentation is complete and consistent with care and reflects legal requirements Member of the patient grievance committee, collaborates with management staff in follow-up of concerns expressed by patients, families, and physicians Establishes a process model for improvement and provides education and training to organization personnel on the performance improvement plan, and team development 2. Responsible for ensuring processes to monitor and evaluate clinical safety, risk management and infection control programs Coordinates, educates and implements monitoring activities for clinical safety, risk management, and infection control Coordinates mandatory in-service programs on OSHA regulations for clinical safety and infection control Acts as resource to staff in identifying clinical safety and risk management issues for patients and staff Reviews all incident reports for completeness, risk, standard of care determination and appropriate follow-up. Maintains a log for trending and makes recommendations related to trends identified Maintains current knowledge related to hospital safety and infection control standards 3. Collaborates with clinical supervisors to provide a process to promote and ensure employee orientation, competency and in-service education programs Assists in the identification of skills for annual competence and provides in-service training support Maintains aggregate records of employee orientation and annual competency requirements as part of PI plan 4. Monitor organization compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards Maintains current knowledge related to Medicare Conditions of Participation to ensure that the organization is compliant with state, federal and local guidelines Responsible for ensuring policies and procedures reflect all related local, state, federal standards and make recommendation for policy changes to the leadership team Acts as a resource to clinical supervisors regarding standards, policies, regulations and provides in-service training to leadership and staff as needed in these areas 5. Provides assistance to community needs Maintain positive relationships with referral sources Maintain positive image in the community Acts as representative of the organization at community meetings, civic and professional organizations as needed 6. Promote self-growth and collegial relationships with others in the rural hospital industry Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal and professional networks and participates in professional organizations or societies 7. Chairs the QAPI Committee Provides oversight to various Hospital committees to ensure that PI efforts are coordinated Interprets, analyzes, and summarizes PI data and prepares and distributes reports/charts for the QAPI Committee and submits reports quarterly or as needed to the Board of Commissioners Reviews ASLH's PI Plan annually Reviews identified indicators and makes recommendations as needed to ensure PI efforts are effective Ensures that the PI program supports multidisciplinary team initiatives 8. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of work performance 9. Responsible for managing the Policy and Procedure process with the respective departments to meet all federal and state guidelines 10. Responsible for staff completion of education and orientation and ongoing annual mandated education 11.
