Job Description

Job SummaryWe are seeking an Import Operations and Customs Specialist to manage import shipments from origin through final delivery while preparing and processing U.S. Customs entries. This role requires hands-on customs brokerage and entry writing experience, along with the ability to manage import files from documentation through billing and closing.

Job ResponsibilitiesImport OperationsCoordinate air, ocean, truck, and rail import shipments from origin through final deliveryReview and validate MBL, HBL, commercial invoices, packing lists, arrival notices, and other shipping documentsTrack shipments and provide status updates to customers and overseas agentsCoordinate with carriers, terminals, truckers, and warehousesMonitor demurrage, detention, and free-time exposureResolve shipment delays, discrepancies, and documentation issuesMaintain accurate shipment records in TMS and operational systemsManage import files from initial documentation through billing and transaction closingCustoms Brokerage and Entry WritingPrepare and transmit U.S. Customs entries through ACEClassify merchandise using the HTSUSDetermine customs value and country of originApply applicable tariff provisions, including Section 301, Section 232, IEEPA, AD and CVD, and 98 and 99 provisionsCalculate duties, taxes, and applicable customs feesRespond to CBP inquiries and requests for informationSupport Post Summary Corrections, protests, audits, and compliance reviewsIdentify and escalate potential customs and compliance issuesQualificationsMinimum 3 years of experience in customs brokerage or related import operationsHands-on experience with U.S. Customs entry writingExperience handling air and ocean importsSpecialized training in air import and ocean importExperience using ACE for customs entry processingFamiliarity with Descartes import softwareProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
