SSS Financial Literacy Coordinator
DEPARTMENT
TRIO SSS Student Support Services
JOB DESCRIPTION
EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
.625 FTE (25 hours per week), 12 month position
PRIMARY DUTY
The Financial Literacy Coordinator for the TRIO Programs is responsible for assessing and monitoring the financial needs of program participants and providing education, counseling, and support services designed to help students address those needs and achieve their financial goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Meet individually with students experiencing financial difficulties 2. Assist participants in procuring maximum financial aid packages, resolving account holds, and filing FAFSA (including organizing FAFSA workshops). 3. Provide objective guidance, training and tools for students to make wise financial choices 4. Provide individual and group financial literacy counseling, counseling on managing loan debt, and collaborating with the Financial Aid office. 5. Assist project participants in identifying and securing educational funding through private and public sources 6. Develop and conduct financial literacy and planning workshops 7. Assist Director with program evaluations and reporting as needed 8. Maintain appropriate documentation to meet Federal guidelines 9. Serve on University committees which impact the financial success of SSS- eligible participants. 10. Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor's degree in the area of business education, business, finance, or related field
Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience
Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of the financial assistance/scholarship processes, budget management, and financial planning as they relate to disadvantaged youth.
