Financial Analyst Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance Leawood, KS Job Details 8 hours ago Qualifications Data analysis software Full Job Description Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance is the largest, independently owned orthopedic specialty practice in the Kansas City metro area. We have over 50 medical providers practicing out of six locations (Leawood, Overland Park, Merriam, Lenexa, Belton, and Blue Springs) with a new Ambulatory Surgery Center opening late 2026 in Lenexa. We are seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to join our team, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), to organize, track, and report on the practice's various revenue streams. This role is central to helping the COO, physician-owners, and practice leadership understand financial performance across service lines, locations, and payer sources, as well as maintain oversight of cash positions and account-level spending. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, comfortable working with large datasets, and skilled at translating numbers into clear, actionable insights.
Essential Functions:
Track and reconcile revenue streams across all practice service lines (e.g., clinical visits, surgical services, ancillary services such as physical therapy, imaging, DME, and in-office procedures) Monitor revenue by physician, location, payer, and service category to identify trends and variances Build and maintain recurring financial and operational reports (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly) for practice leadership and physician-owners as requested by leadership Design dashboards and visualizations that clearly communicate revenue trends, KPIs, and productivity metrics Assist with budgeting and forecasting for revenue and departmental performance Model the financial impact of proposed changes (new providers, service offerings, payer contracts, fee schedule updates) Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions (e.g., new service line evaluation, staffing/capacity analysis, ancillary profitability) Regularly review bank account balances across all practice entities/accounts and flag low balances, unusual activity, or timing issues to the COO Verify that expenses, transfers, and payments are being drawn from the correct accounts based on entity, service line, or designated purpose Reconcile bank account activity against internal records to catch misallocated or miscoded transactions Support cash flow monitoring and short-term forecasting to ensure accounts are adequately funded for payroll, vendor payments, and other obligations Work with accounting/bookkeeping staff to correct any misapplied expenses and improve account-coding accuracy going forward Maintain accurate, well-organized financial records and data files Identify opportunities to streamline data collection and reporting processes, including automation of recurring reports Ensure data integrity across practice management, billing, and accounting systems Work closely with the COO, practice administrators, Director of RCM, Director of Finance and outside accountants/CPAs as needed Present findings to the COO and physician-owners in a clear, non-technical manner when needed
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in financial analysis, revenue cycle analysis, or a related analytical role (healthcare/medical practice experience strongly preferred) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data modeling) Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail Ability to manage multiple data sources and reporting deadlines independently Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with practice management or EHR systems (e.g., ModMed, EPIC) and/or medical billing/revenue cycle data Experience with additional data analysis or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SQL) Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software Familiarity with orthopedic or specialty medical practice operations Experience supporting physician-owned or multi-entity practice structures
Licensing/Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related experience.
