Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Orthodontic Financial Coordinator to join our dynamic Orthodontic team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of medical billing, coding, and insurance processes, with a focus on orthodontic services. As an integral part of our practice, the Orthodontic Financial Coordinator will manage patient accounts, facilitate accurate billing procedures, and ensure seamless communication between patients and insurance providers. Responsibilities Manage patient financial records by accurately entering data into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. Process insurance claims efficiently using healthcare claims management software, ensuring correct coding with DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards. Verify patient insurance coverage and explain benefits to patients clearly and professionally. Handle medical collections by following up on unpaid balances and coordinating with insurance companies to resolve claim issues. Prepare and submit billing documentation for orthodontic procedures, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and coding guidelines. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health insurance policies, medical terminology, and medical records management to facilitate accurate billing and claims processing. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding billing statements, payment plans, and insurance matters promptly and effectively. Collaborate closely with clinical staff to ensure all billing procedures align with treatment plans and documentation standards. Utilize Microsoft Office tools alongside specialized billing software to generate reports, track payments, and analyze financial data for practice improvement. Qualifications Proven experience in medical office administration with a focus on orthodontic or dental billing is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of healthcare claims management, medical coding (DRG, CPT coding), ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding standards, and medical terminology. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, billing software, and Microsoft Office applications for data entry and reporting purposes. Excellent understanding of health insurance policies, benefits verification, and medical collection procedures. Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Exceptional customer service skills combined with clear communication abilities to assist patients effectively. Attention to detail with strong organizational skills for managing multiple accounts simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
