This recruitment will establish an employment list to fill current and any future vacancies within the Auditor-Controller/Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. If interested in employment for this position for current or future vacancies, please submit an online application for consideration. Current vacancy is with the Auditor's Office located at the Courthouse in Visalia. The anticipated life of the employment list is six months. This position is responsible for performing difficult or complex financial transactions and providing lead supervision to a unit of County Financial Technicians. This is the journey level position in the County Financial Technician series.
DUTY SAMPLE
Audit financial data, documents, and reports for accuracy and completeness, and make necessary corrections and provide assistance to department and staff on methods of correcting errors. Prepare claims and/or payment processing activities; serve as subject matter specialist in assisting County Financial Technicians with complex transactions. Prepare and maintain a variety of financial records and reports. Assist other county departments, vendors and employees on claims processing issues. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications are used as a guide for establishing the education, training, experience, special skills and/or license which are required and equivalent to the following.
Education:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12 th ) grade, preferably supplemented with college coursework in bookkeeping or accounting.
Experience:
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible financial record-keeping experience reading, interpreting and analyzing financial documents, accounts and records or one (1) year of experience as a County Financial Technician II.
Knowledge of:
Procedures and requirements of the county financial offices. Accounts payable procedures. Procedures to receive and disburse funds Methods and procedures used in financial and statistical ledger systems. General bookkeeping and record-keeping practices and procedures.
Skill/Ability to:
Work and communicate effectively with people of various education and socioeconomic backgrounds by respecting beliefs, interpersonal styles and behaviors of both clients and co-workers. Operate contemporary office equipment inclusive of computer, keyboard, and all applicable electronic equipment. Perform difficult financial record keeping including preparing and reconciling financial reports, processing payment claims, and making adjusting and closing entries.
