Job Summary The Accounting Manager/Scale Operations Supervisor is responsible for performing a variety of accounting and financial functions for Legacy Landfill while providing direct supervision and oversight of the scale attendants and daily scale house operations. This position maintains accurate financial records, performs account reconciliations, assists with financial reporting, and supports the day-to-day financial operations of the company, while also ensuring accurate processing of customer transactions at the scale house. The position also provides leadership, training, scheduling, and day-to-day supervision of scale attendants to ensure efficient, accurate, and professional operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and capable of effectively managing both accounting responsibilities and personnel. Duties Accounting and Financial Responsibilities
Responsible for accounting activities of the Authority and District.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial information.
Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and other assigned accounts.
Enter and maintain accounting transactions in the company's accounting software. This includes general journal entries, fixed assets and depreciation, and preparing financial statements.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures.
Prepare and maintain financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as requested.
Review transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company policies.
Maintain organized accounting files and records.
Provide documentation and information needed for internal and external audits.
Work with management to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and process issues.
Maintain confidentiality of company, customer, vendor, and employee financial information.
Follow all company policies and procedures, and applicable accounting standards and regulations.
Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned. Scalehouse Supervision
Directly supervise and provide daily oversight to all scale attendants.
Coordinate scale attendant schedules, work assignments, breaks, and coverage to ensure adequate staffing.
Monitor scale attendants for accuracy, productivity, professionalism, and compliance with company policies.
Ensure scale attendants properly process incoming and outgoing loads, customer transactions, tickets, payments, and required documentation.
Monitor cash handling, credit card transactions, account charges, and daily scale house receipts for accuracy.
Review and resolve discrepancies involving tickets, weights, customer accounts, payments, and transactions.
Ensure scale attendants properly verify customers and load information in accordance with company requirements.
Serve as the primary point of contact for scale attendants when questions or operational issues arise.
Ensure scale house records and documentation are maintained accurately and securely. Provide coverage or assistance with scale operations when needed Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting required and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles preferred.
Public accounting knowledge preferred.
Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
Experience with accounting software and advanced Excel functions.
Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
Excellent communications skills required, both written and verbal. Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
Ability to frequently use a computer, keyboard, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry office materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment This position is primarily performed in a professional office environment but may occasionally require interaction with customers, vendors, employees, drivers, and other personnel at the landfill.
Pay:
From $24.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
