THE OPPORTUNITY
American Laminates is looking for a hands-on Accounting Manager to own our accounting function from end to end. As the Company's top finance professional, you'll find that no two days look the same: month-end close, payroll, sales tax, inventory, cash forecasting, and vendor and customer questions can all land on your desk in the same day. This is a role for someone who wants more than a seat in a large finance department: you will run full-cycle accounting, lead the monthly close and reporting, oversee inventory cost accounting and payroll, and work directly with the Company's senior management team on the financial decisions that shape the business. You will have real ownership, a voice in how things are done, and the chance to build the policies and processes that support our next stage of growth, including our upcoming ERP transition from SYSPRO to NetSuite. This is a full-time, on-site position at our Riverbank, California facility, reporting to the Company's President and supervising one Accounting Assistant. The salary range is $65,000 to $80,000 per year. Candidates should be local to the Modesto area, relocation assistance is not available.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Own full-cycle accounting, from accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll through the general ledger and financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP and Company policy. Manage vendor payments and customer billing, keeping payables and receivables current and accurate, and resolve vendor and customer issues as they come up. Drive the month-end and year-end close and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting that leadership and our bank rely on. Oversee inventory and cost accounting, working with production and warehouse teams to keep product costs, inventory valuation, and physical counts accurate. Manage payroll processing and keep current with California payroll requirements. Partner with the senior management team on significant financial decisions and manage cash forecasting. Provide executive-level analysis that explains the Company's financial position and results to the management team and shareholders. Identify, propose, and implement cost-saving opportunities across the business. Shape our accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and systems, and improve them as the business grows. Help lead the Company's transition from SYSPRO to NetSuite, including data migration, process design, testing, and user training. Look for practical ways to automate and streamline accounting workflows, reconciliations, and reporting. Supervise, train, and develop the Accounting Assistant, who supports data entry, customer order processing, and invoicing. Manage sales tax filings and keep income tax, insurance, and regulatory filings on track, working with our outside CPA and advisors.
WHAT YOU BRING
Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Five or more years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on, full-cycle accounting and financial statement preparation. Manufacturing industry experience, including hands-on inventory and cost accounting, inventory valuation, and physical counts. Experience running payroll (ADP or Rippling preferred) and a working knowledge of California payroll requirements. Strong command of U.S. GAAP and the month-end close, with advanced Excel skills and hands-on experience with at least one ERP system. A practical, roll-up-your-sleeves approach, comfort juggling many priorities on a small team, and the ability to explain the numbers clearly to non-finance leaders. Nice to have SYSPRO experience, or experience with an ERP implementation or migration (NetSuite a plus). CPA or progress toward licensure.
WHY JOIN US A

cost accounting, payroll, reporting, and compliance in a single role, plus a hands-on ERP implementation.
