Job Description

JOB TITLE
Accounting Manager
RESPONSIBLE TO
General Manager
GENERAL DUTIES
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records.
  • Manage the monthly and annual financial close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, cost accounting, and payroll administration.
  • Supervise, mentor, recruit, and develop accounting staff; assign workloads and monitor performance to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, tax regulations, company policies, and accounting procedures.
  • Coordinate and oversee financial statement audits and support tax compliance activities.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and provide timely financial information.
  • Evaluate and improve accounting processes, workflows, and systems to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Additional duties may be added as need arises.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by accounting staff.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances.
  • Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely in accordance with
U.S. GAAP.
  • Review payment processes to ensure proper approvals and compliance with company policies.
  • Resolve complex vendor and customer accounting issues.
  • Monitor collection activities and accounts receivable aging reports.
  • Review inventory accounting and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
  • Review payroll processing and payroll registers.
  • Review payroll journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Support W-2 processing and payroll audits.
  • Train accounting staff on accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Maintain documentation of accounting policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce accounting risks.
  • Coordinate annual financial statement audits and respond to auditor requests.
  • Assist with federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements.
  • Provide external tax advisors with information needed for income tax returns and other filings.
  • Assist with preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor actual results against budget and explain variances.
  • Provide financial analysis supporting operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses requested by management.
  • Manage and implement ERPs and accounting systems and upgrades.
  • Ensure accounting systems are configured to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Use technology to automate manual processes and improve efficiency.
  • Additional duties may be added as need arises.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Master's Degree or CPA (licensed in CA) preferred.
  • Public Accounting experience preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience in supervisory or management role.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Mastery of accounting regulations and rules.
  • Software:
    QuickBooks, MS Excel, NetSuite, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, Various Tax Software, Google Suites.
  • Ability to master new software.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
  • Ability to direct & supervise.
  • High attention to detail & accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
