This is not an entry-level bookkeeping or data-entry position. We need someone who understands how money moves through a project-based construction company and can independently manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, change orders, loan payments, reconciliations, and financial follow-through. Key Responsibilities Manage accounts receivable and maintain an accurate list of all outstanding customer balances Track customer contracts, progress payments, deposits, final payments, and change orders Ensure approved change orders are properly billed and collected Follow up professionally and consistently on past-due customer accounts Manage accounts payable, including vendor and subcontractor invoices Verify invoices against projects, purchase information, and approved work before payment Properly code expenses to the correct project/job Maintain accurate job-costing records Track recurring company expenses and payment deadlines Maintain and manage schedules for equipment, vehicle, and other company loan payments Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, vendor statements, and customer accounts Identify discrepancies before they become larger accounting problems Assist with month-end accounting and reporting Maintain organized supporting documentation Work closely with ownership, project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and customers Provide ownership with clear reporting on what is owed to us, what we owe, upcoming payments, and any financial issues requiring attention Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations experience Construction accounting experience strongly preferred Strong AR and AP experience Experience with job costing and change-order tracking Experience reconciling bank accounts and credit cards Comfortable managing a large volume of transactions across multiple active projects Strong Excel skills Ability to identify errors and investigate discrepancies Excellent organizational and follow-up skills Comfortable communicating directly with customers and vendors regarding money Experience working in a growing $10M+ company is a major plus Experience with swimming pools is not required. Experience with a general contractor, homebuilder, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, landscaping, excavation, or another project-based construction company would translate very well. We want someone who always knows What customers owe us. What vendors we owe. What change orders have been approved but not collected. What bills and loans are coming due. Whether every transaction is coded to the correct project. What accounts are reconciled vs need reconciled Accuracy and follow-through are extremely important in this position. Join us in this vital role where your expertise will shape the financial backbone of our construction projects! We value energetic professionals who thrive on challenge and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance in our financial operations.
