Position Summary The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing routine processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, monthly statements to congregations, reconciling payroll/benefits and related AR, and for assuring the accuracy of reoccurring monthly journal entries. They are responsible for maintaining daily check registers in Excel for all bank account activity, processing credit card and PEX card charges, maintaining excel workbooks, reconciling assigned GL and Balance Sheet accounts as necessary, and producing annual 1099's. The Accounting Manager assist the CFO with maintaining an accurate Chart of Accounts structure in Financial Edge, coordinating the month end and year end close, and has a key role in providing assigned workpapers necessary to execute the annual audit. Other duties as assigned. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Daily Process payment vouchers and enter invoices into Financial Edge in accordance with established procedures Collect W-9s as necessary Maintain daily check registers in excel for all bank account activity Monitor cash flow. Inform CFO of any issues. Process cash receipts and make deposits with Remote Deposit Capture Post deposits in AR & cash receipts Weekly Issue A/P checks in accordance with established procedures Monitor PEX accounts and initiate funding transfers as needed Assure copies of donations checks delivered to Admin staff for entering into DonorPerfect Bi-Weekly Review, reconcile, & record entries for payroll & benefits, assuring accuracy in AR and GL Verify PR entries after Payroll Specialist enters data into CheckWriters Reconcile and enter HR-TSA payments for pension benefits - Fidelity and GL Monthly Make regular, reoccurring journal entries for accounts receivable, cash transfers, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities and other accounts as necessary Update all excel workbooks to reconcile with assigned balance sheet accounts Responsible for producing monthly statement to congregation and other cost centers Prepare monthly billing statement to Cathedral for postage Assure all bank account transactions are entered in a timely manner to facilitate smooth bank reconciliation process for all cash accounts Process credit card and PEX card activity by user. Assure timely payment by due date Reconcile and process petty cash as needed Quarterly Receive Trustees quarterly distribution statement; review and initiate EFT funding distributions Update TB Grouping Report to add any new accounts in preparation for the annual audit Annually Setup new workbook in excel for Common Ministry for coming year, noting exceptions Setup new charges in

Bank e-treasury for Common Ministry & Retiree Benefits Setup new payroll workbook in excel reflecting allocation changes for upcoming year Recalculate insurance per department for annual policy renewal Update 1st of month payments for new budget Process 1099's, prepare 1096 for filing Organize & provide audit work papers as assigned for annual independent audit Enter final, year-end data entry from trial balance report into TB Grouping Report in preparation for annual audit Other/Ongoing Assist with maintaining an accurate chart of accounts structure in Financial Edge Organize filing, record keeping, and document storage (with assistance of Admin Asst) Strive for reduced paper records and an increase to electronic records and filing Participate in strengthening financial services by helping to cross-train to assure continuity of services during times of reduced staff Perform other duties or projects as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
Accounting Degree or Associate Degree Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and budget planning. Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Demonstrated experience managing, or ability to be trained, in the following softwares: Blackbaud, CheckWriters, Microsoft Office Skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience working within a church, faith-based organization, nonprofit, educational institution, or mission-driven organization. Experience supervising staff, interns, or volunteers. Ability to develop communication plans that support organizational change and strategic initiatives.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for the position is in the range of $70-75K. The employee will receive pension benefits. Other benefits include generous paid time off and other leave benefits, according to diocesan policies.
