Full-time Position Summary:
The Revenue Cycle & Billing Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, oversight, and hands-on management of all revenue cycle operations for the practice. This individual will supervise billing specialists, coding specialists, accounts receivable (A/R) staff, and patient collections personnel while actively participating in billing, ensuring accurate claim submission, timely reimbursement, and optimal financial performance. The ideal candidate is an experienced revenue cycle professional with a strong understanding of physician practice billing, coding, claims management, and reimbursement. Direct and oversee all revenue cycle functions from charge capture through final payment. Lead and manage billing specialists, coding specialists, A/R follow-up staff, and medical and cosmetic patient collections personnel. Establish departmental goals, productivity expectations, and performance standards. Monitor workflow queues to ensure timely claim submission, denial resolution, payment posting, and patient collections. Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve revenue cycle performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Cycle Management:
Oversee all aspects of billing, coding, and collections for medical and cosmetic dermatology services. Monitor accounts receivable (A/R) and ensure timely claim submissions and follow-up. Analyze and resolve claim denials, rejections, and underpayments.
Coding & Charge Capture:
Ensure proper CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding specific to dermatology procedures. Train and support clinical staff and providers on appropriate charge capture and documentation practices.
Team Management:
Supervise billing staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Set departmental goals and ensure staff accountability for billing accuracy and productivity. Foster a collaborative and professional team environment.
Reporting & Analytics:
Prepare and present financial and billing performance reports to leadership. Track key metrics such as collections rate, days in A/R, denial rates, and payment turnaround time. Identify trends and recommend improvements to optimize revenue cycle efficiency.
Patient & Insurance Communication:
Oversee patient billing inquiries and ensure clear, compassionate communication regarding balances. Coordinate with front-desk and clinical teams to ensure smooth financial workflows.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Business, or related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of medical billing and RCM experience, at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Certifications:
Certified Professional Biller (CPB), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent preferred.
Skills:
Deep knowledge of dermatology coding (CPT, ICD-10, modifiers) Proficiency in practice management software (e.g., EMA, NextGen, or similar) Strong leadership and staff development abilities Analytical mindset and attention to detail Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills Preferred Dermatology billing and coding experience Experience with NextGen Practice Management and ModMed EMA EHR Experience managing outsourced revenue cycle vendors.
Pay:
$80,000.00
