We have established lasting relationships with many residential, commercial, and industrial utility customers. We are a unique electrical contractor due to the fact that we perform so many different types of electrical work. We perform residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work, including sports lighting, airport lighting, traffic signal, underground systems, pole-line, and utility work. With over 120 employees and 300 pieces of equipment, there is no job too small or too large for Jess Howard Electric Company.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an Accounting Manager who wants the opportunity to learn an accounting operation from the ground up, take on increasing responsibility, and grow into a key leadership role within the department. This is a great opportunity for someone who has built a solid accounting foundation but feels ready for more. Skills and Qualifications:
We're looking for someone who has strong accounting skills and the drive to keep learning. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered Progressive accounting experience with exposure to multiple accounting functions Previous experience managing or leading employees Experience in commercial construction strongly preferred Experience with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate or a similar ERP/accounting system preferred Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs or similar lookup functions, and data analysis Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role, you'll develop a comprehensive understanding of the accounting department while taking ownership of key accounting responsibilities, including: Performing bank and general ledger account reconciliations Supporting month-end and year-end accounting activities Learning and supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and purchasing processes Learning and providing backup support for field and office payroll Researching and resolving accounting discrepancies Writing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the accounting department Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls Cross-training with accounting team members to understand each function of the department Providing guidance, coaching, and support to accounting team members as leadership responsibilities grow
WORK ARRANGEMENT
In Office, M-F, 7 AM - 4 PM
SALARY RANGE
$85,000 - $115,000 / year
